I saw this post and couldn’t understand why I didn’t think of this!! It’s such a genius idea to grow spices in a window box right outside your kitchen window. Another reason why I can’t wait to buy a house… For now, I’ll keep it in my “to-make” folder!

dream pantry

While I love my pantry, this is just a little bit more amazing! Shallow shelves seem to be the best solution in a situation like this so you can see everything all at once.

my kitchen’s pantry

So the pantry is finally finished! I’ve been waiting to post photos until we finally had the molding on and painted. With most projects, it’s the little things that seem to stay on your to-do list forever. Originally we thought we were also going to add a wall to make our studio into a one [...]

wallpaper in the kitchen
March 18th, 2010 · No Comments · Kitchens
Wallpaper is a nontraditional yet interesting material to use in the kitchen. In this application, the homeowner sacrificed upper cabinets for storage, but used the shelf to store beautiful kitchen items with a beautiful patterned backdrop.

What do you think? Would you ever use wallpaper in the kitchen?
classic penny rounds

Forgive me for not feeling very motivated to write lately. What better way to get back into the groove of things than to feature the classic and modern material… penny rounds!

I’ve been watching a lot of the food network lately, and have learned to feel even more comfortable in the kitchen. Just watching other people’s techniques (in anything) helps me. Because Ryan and I have a teeny kitchen, with not very much cabinet space I’ve been looking for things we should register for and I’ve [...]
breakfast room

How perfect would this room be to sip your morning coffee and read the newspaper?! I’ve always had a love affair for these chairs and credenza, and seeing them together in this room soaked with natural light gives me butterflies (seriously!).

the best spice rack ever
January 13th, 2010 · 1 Comment · Kitchens, Recipes
Okay, I might be a little dramatic, but I think my spice rack might be my favorite thing in our condo (besides Ryan of course… ha!). I have all my spices on these racks on the inside of two cabinet doors. Being able to see every spice clearly labeled while I’m cooking makes it so much [...]

I’m kind of anti-drying racks for dishes, but this is a great alternative to having clutter on your counter tops.

chalk it up to pure style

THIS kitchen discovered on design*sponge is truly inspiring! The before is a very common everyday american kitchen with maple arched cabinets, fluorescent lighting, and linoleum flooring.
To give this kitchen a facelift, the upper cabinets were ripped down and replaced with bead board and and shelving for only $150! The base cabinets were painted, along with [...]
